So, I joined the Dansko Fan Page on Facebook. Because I wear them, and swear by them for their comfort. Anyway, after I joined the page, I was friended by a fellow Dansko fan.  I naively accepted the request, and he sent me a message about how he loves clogs, and has many pairs. Ok.  Then asked me my shoe size, height, etc.   And if I lived closer (he's in NC, Sodexo employee for the Marines) he'd buy me a pair.  I just chose to ignore the messages, but now almost anytime I get on FB, I get an instant message from this guy, like "Hey, Clogfriend."  I end up logging off, because it's irritating.  I guess I'll be deleting him next time I log on. 

And I thought all the freaks and weirdos were on MySpace.

So, yesterday at work, the Department of Health (AKA: the State) showed up for the re-inspection of our facility.  That is always a stressful situation for us nurses, so you kind of have to develop a way to vent your stress without it being visible.  Mine is, I become extra, superfake nice to someone when they annoy or piss me off. 
So, I was totally overwhelmed/stressed when a State lady came up to me, wheeling a patient with a small drop of blood on her pants.  I explained to her that the lady  just had her blood drawn, and with a huuuuuuuuuuuuge smile I told her: "I'm taking care of that, right now!"  I was secretly frightened the rest of the day that she saw thru my fake-smile mask and what I really was saying was "F-U!"
Apparently, she thought I was so nice, she gave a compliment to me in their exit meeting, saying I was the nicest nurse she had met there.
HEEEHEEEEHEEEE!

Anyone ever see "Velvet Goldmine"?  I saw it originally, oh, ten years ago, but I caught a little of it on IFC last night: it was the scene where Slade first sees "Kurt Wild" (the Iggy Pop-ish character) perform.  Wow, totally sexy, young Ewan McGregor, in all his crazy full-frontal nudity...yowsa!

My little orange kitty, Lucy, has found a new place to nap: the top shelf of my walk-in closet.  Now, pretty much anytime I go in there, I look up to my right and am greeted by what I have dubbed as the "pile of feet" 'cause that's all I can see of her.  Kitties always can find new and creative ways to nap, y'know?
I got up ridiculously early today on my day off, and found I could sleep no more.  I decided to take advantage of this, and got in an hour of roller-skating outside at my favorite spot by the river. I figured it was better to go @ 6:30a, before the temp and humidity climbed to ungodly levels.  Bunny-rabbits were hopping around, and the boats were anchored and bobbing: twas a serene scene.  I was going to pack it in when the sweat was rolling down my face, but decided to push for one more lap around.  Good thing I did, because lo and behold, at the end of the extra lap was one of my toe-stops.  Luck or divine intervention, I don't know, but I was grateful.

Well, I finally did it: I went skating outdoors today.  We have a paved path here in Bristol called the "Spurline Train" because it used to be an old railroad tract.  I skated the whole damn thing!  It was a little bumpy in parts, and it did stop and restart in a few places, but overall it was great fun.  I got to exercise out in the daylight, nature and people watch. The best part would be to have found the perfect outdoor substitute for a rink: the part of the trail that borders the river near Lenox (for any Bristolites: that would be where the old Dial Soap factory was).  It borders the parking lot (which is well paved and pretty vacant, yay for me)the river, then curves around the parking lot again.  I think this will be my new outside rink, due to safety reasons.  I can safely park there and skate my heart out, and not have to worry about traffic, because this area is very self-contained, and since it's new, the paving is still pretty smooth.

Home from vacation, had 8hr drive yesterday (better than getting there). So far we:
1) Watched "Prairie Home Companion."
2) Ate breakfast
3) Read the paper
It is now 3:30pm.  We so lazy!

Tonight:
We are going Mom & Dad's for dinner(His folks).

Life in the slow lane.

I don't go back to work until Wednesday. Woohoo!
